UK first fireworks displays to hit Claremont Pier Lowestoft

For one night only, Claremont Pier in Lowestoft will showcase two fireworks displays.

Owners of the famous Lowestoft landmark have teamed up with Flash Fx "to bring a UK first to Claremont Pier" on Friday, August 23.

With free entry to the fireworks displays at 7pm and 9pm on the bank holiday Friday, they are being staged "as a thank you to the customers who have supported the Pier this summer" with donations being accepted on the night to help the ongoing campaign to re-deck the whole 60-metre stretch of the pier.

The bank holiday fireworks bonanza will feature "a special daytime display at 7pm" along with a "pioneering Wildlife Considered Display at 9pm."

It comes three years after hundreds of people turned out to see a spectacular laser light show in 2021. 

Flames and laser lights had illuminated the night skies over Claremont Pier on the south beach in Lowestoft during displays in July and August that year.

Now after a break, two stunning new displays are earmarked as coloured pyrotechnics and clouds of smoke are set to be showcased during the fireworks displays,

Over the past four years, the owners, Edward and Charmaine Mayne, their eldest daughter Victoria Manning and her husband Michael Manning, son Ernie Mayne as well as daughter Charmaine Llewellyn and her husband Ben Llewellyn have made a significant investment in the pier.

Ben Llewellyn, director of Claremont Pier, said: "These type of displays were used at the Olympic opening ceremony this year for the first time ever, and Flash Fx will be bringing these fireworks to Lowestoft in what will be a first in East Anglia, and a UK first.

"We are hoping to bring more people to the seafront with these displays.

"While they are free of charge on the night, to help us get to the next chapter in rebuilding the end of the pier we hope people can donate to our ongoing campaign.

"Last month marked four years since we took over, and I could not believe it - the difference that has been made is just absolutely incredible."
