A community centre is providing families with support as the end of the school holidays approaches.
The Bloodmoor Hill Community Centre in Carlton Colville, near Lowestoft, has a school uniform bank for those in need.
The programme is run by Russell Lord, the project coordinator for the community centre.
Mr Lord said: “The project was set up originally by the council, but now we run it independently, with some additional support from them.
“We have been here since July last year.”
“I have two volunteers; I couldn’t do it without them.”
Mr Lord has noticed a significant uptake in people needing help from the centre.
“We have been really busy recently; it’s been non-stop since the start of the school holidays."
According to the East Suffolk Council website, the average cost of a school uniform per year is £315.
Mr Lord said: “People just can’t afford it.
“We have helped between 35 and 40 families since July.
“I encourage people to contact me via social media and tell me what they need."
