Internationally renowned bassoonist Laurence Perkins will headline Waveney Sinfonia’s autumn concert.

Mr Perkins, a former principal bassoonist with the Manchester Camerata for more than 40 years, will perform the Mozart Bassoon Concerto and Elgar’s Romance for Bassoon.

Currently a bassoon tutor at the University of York, Mr Perkins studied at the Royal Northern College of Music.

His impressive repertoire of chamber music concerts includes the BBC Proms and tours across Europe, Hong Kong, Macau, Australia, and Japan.

He has also performed solo recitals at London’s Wigmore Hall and the Purcell Room, and concertos with both the English Chamber Orchestra and Manchester Camerata.

Mr Perkins has recorded solo CDs for the Hyperion label, one of which received a five-star rating in the BBC Music Magazine.

The concert will take place at Trinity Methodist Church, Lowestoft, on Saturday, October 5, at 7.30pm.

The programme will also feature Beethoven’s Overture The Ruins of Athens and Bizet’s Symphony No 1 in C major.
