A very satisfactory Saturday for the club saw both the ladies and men's teams at Lowestoft Railway Bowls Club claim victory to move up the league.
First off the ladies, hosting County Arts from Norwich - who were sitting third in the league, took a bow.
Sue Moretta’s block of Lorraine George and Glenis Harvey only allowed their opponents four winning ends and came home with a resounding 26-5 shots win.
Next up Sally Moon, together with Irene Hughes and Heather Chennells triumphed 15-12 having been locked at 10-all at the 10th end.
Margaret Beck, Val Mardel and Rowena Slawinski - who were 9-3 up at the seventh end - unfortunately lost the next five ends & eventually went down 12-15.
Linda Dann, Christina Dunn and Diane Muirhead were 2-20 down at the 10th end and although battling back they sadly went down 10-23.
This result gave a 63-55 shots win and six valuable league points with victory moving the team up the league table.
The men's team entertained Norwich Roundwood who were sitting on top of the league - so it was a bottom versus top match.
Leading the way Roger McGee’s boys Ron Castro, Pete Garnham and Barry Cooper went off at a sprint and at the 16th end were 21-5 up eventually coming in at 24-9.
Captain Ed Alcock together with Bernie Earles, Ray McCloud and Terry Harvey followed suit and won 13 ends scoring steadily as they finished 20-12 on top.
Close behind Paul LeGrice led his team of John Bullard, Keith Beales and Paul Webber - who were never in trouble - as they closed off at 22-15.
Terry Thacker, Mark Muirhead, Alan Lyne and Steve Banyard were leading 16-14 at the 17th end in a close contest - however they were beaten by one shot 17-18 on the last end.
The 83-54 result gave Railway six points and a deserved move up the table at last.
Next match after Chrstmas is away at Acle on January 21.
