STOWMARKET TOWN 0 LOWESTOFT TOWN 3

Lowestoft Town extended their current unbeaten run to five games with this magnificent victory over Stowmarket Town, which completed a league double over their Suffolk rivals.

Lowestoft were able to welcome back leading scorers Jake Reed and Adam Hipperson with Warren Burwood replacing the suspended Luke Holt between the posts.

After conceding a couple of early corners, The Trawlerboys stunned the home side by taking the lead in the seventh minute with a stunning strike.

There seemed little danger as Louis McIntosh moved into the centre of the pitch but he unleashed a rocket from at least 30 yards that scorched into the top corner of the net.

A candidate for at least goal of the month - if not goal of the season.

As the rain teemed down on an already sodden pitch, the rampant Trawlerboys seemed to glide over the mud, dominating in all areas as their hosts floundered.

However, they had to wait though until the final minute of the first half before increasing their lead.

Once again McIntosh instigated the move with his free kick finding Reed who laid the ball back to Hipperson to curl a delightful shot into the far corner of the net from 15 yards.

Jake Reed was making his 300th appearance for Lowestoft and seemed determined to celebrate it with a goal giving former Trawlerboys Jack Ainsley and Josh Curry a torrid afternoon but as he moved into the penalty area he was brought down.

Hipperson stepped up to convert the 58th minute penalty.

Lowestoft’s goal was threatened for the first time in the 73rd minute when Marlon Agyakwa lobbed the ball over the advancing Burwood but Owen Murphy was able to get back and clear off the line.

Reed was close to his goal five minutes from the end when he rounded keeper James Bradbrook but from a narrow angle couldn’t find the goal.

A late Stowmarket attack saw Burwood saving a rather tame effort from Tevan Allen low by the base of the near post but the last action came again from Reed breaking through but seeing his shot fly inches wide.
