GRAYS ATHLETIC 5 LOWESTOFT TOWN 3

There were goals galore at Park Drive on Saturday as Maldon & Tiptree stunned Lowestoft Town.

They fought back from a half time deficit to record a vital victory following an eight goal thriller in this Pitching In Isthmian League North Division clash.

Lowestoft included new signing Shaun Bammant in the starting line up after his registration deadline day signing.

There was a fast start to the game with Maldon taking a seventh minute lead.

The Trawlerboys defence was all at sea as the ball was played through to Sam Ayoola to shoot past Luke Holt.

Lowestoft’s reply was instant and just two minutes later Jake Reed was brought down in the area by Michael Finneran and Adam Hipperson stepped up to level the scores from the spot.

Louis McIntosh sent in a free kick from which Bammant’s header was tipped over the bar by Rob Budd.

Lowestoft took the lead three minutes before the break with Sam Johnson and Kyle Haylock combining for Reed to apply the final touch from six yards.

Maldon made a crucial change at the break bringing on Louie Remi in place of Harry Phillips and the change was immediately apparent as Lowestoft were penned back in their own half.

Maldon equalised in the 55th minute when Michael Salako powered his header home.

Maldon then took the lead in the 68th minute with a penalty converted by Louie Remi after Sam Nunn had handled in the box.

It took Maldon only four minutes to increase their lead as another low cross from the right was swept home by Ayoola.

Lowestoft hit back to reduce the deficit as Reed was played through to calmly slide past Budd for his second of the game.

But Maldon added a fifth goal as Holt’s scuffed clearance went only to Terrell Egbri who easily played the ball back past the keeper.
