Lowestoft Town gained a comfortable if unimpressive victory over East Thurrock United to leave them buoyant prior to the play off hurdles to be faced this week.

Lowestoft started Saturday's game well on top and looked hungry for goals.

Charlie Norman had the first chance as he raced into the area but Anthony Page excelled in blocking.

Lowestoft eventually took a deserved lead after 17 minutes.

A Rhys Logan corner saw Eusebio Da Silva handle the ball and Adam Hipperson stepped up to convert his 11th spot kick of the season.

Lowestoft were now rampant and Logan glided past Syrus Gordon but his 18 yard drive grazed the wrong side of the upright.

An excellent through ball from Kyle Haylock sent Jake Reed through but with just Page to beat the striker blazed high over the bar.

Norman was getting forward at every opportunity down the right and he burst into the area again and forced another diving save out of Page.

The interval arrived with Lowestoft having dominated but with only a single goal to show.

The Rocks came out with more energy at the start of the second half and Lowestoft’s lead looked decidedly slender for a while.

Within a minute Jesse Olukolu turned Norman and his rising drive seemed destined for the corner until Warren Burwood flew across goal to palm the ball away, before Max Fiddes' header was inches over.

Having alrwady made three substitutions Lowestoft were reduced to 10 men as Jake Reed limped out of the game.

As East Thurrock pressed for a late equaliser they were hit with a sucker punch as Lowestoft broke quickly with Chris Henderson racing clear from inside his own half to slip the ball past Page for a second goal with the last kick of the game.

After a lap of honour after the game, players and supporters congregated in the clubhouse to see skipper Travis Cole pick up all three Player of the Year Awards – Players, Supporters and Managers.
