Last Sunday saw 392 athletes take part in the 26th annual Scores Race in Lowestoft.
Organised by Waveney Valley Athletic Club and sponsored by Birds Eye, Greater Gabbard Wind Farm and RWE Generation Ltd, the course had a minor alteration due to works to Jubilee Bridge, but still took in seven ascents and six descents over nearly four and a half miles.
First across the line was Samuel Stevens (City of Norwich AC) in a time of 24:50 and the first woman was Joanne Watkins (Bure Valley Harriers) with a time of 32:52.
It was a family affair for the Eccles family from Bure Valley Harriers with siblings Billie and Eva winning male and female 13-15 year junior categories respectively and dad Michael coming second overall.
In the junior 9-12 years category Harry Doran (Great Yarmouth & District AC) was the first male and Megan Chong (Waveney Valley AC) was the first female.
Team prizes went to City of Norwich AC (male) and Great Yarmouth Road Runners (female).
Waveney Valley AC chair and Scores race director, Mike Illingsworth, said: “This is a unique race showing the very best of Lowestoft’s historic high street and rich heritage.
“It was fantastic to watch all competitors cross the line and receive such positive feedback.
“Such an event was only possible with the amazing support of club members countless volunteers, and of course our sponsors.”
