A judge has extended the length of time a man accused of threatening to kill a Suffolk MP can be held in custody - after it emerged he is in hospital.
Neil Balderson, 56, of Arnold Street, Lowestoft, is accused of making a threat to kill Waveney MP Peter Aldous.
Balderson allegedly made a threat to Mr Aldous' secretary in June last year to kill the MP, intending she would fear the threat would be carried out.
He is also accused of sending electronic communications with intent to cause distress.
Some of the 10 charges relate to 999 and 111 calls allegedly made by him.
Balderson, who has yet to enter pleas to the charges, has been in custody and is currently in hospital.
On Friday, February 10 Judge Martyn Levett said Balderson's custody time limit expires on February 17.
After hearing that Balderson’s condition was unchanged and he was not well enough to stand trial, Judge Levett extended his custody time limit to March 29 and asked for an update on his condition to be provided to the court.
