It was a protest that reportedly saw more than 100 people storm a town hall to hit out against the withdrawal of coal relief.
And memories will be recalled today (Monday) as a special talk is held in a coastal town on the 90th anniversary of the "so-called town hall riot."
Taking centre stage at The Grit, Lowestoft Arts and Heritage Centre on Old Nelson Street in Lowestoft at 10.30am on May 8, a free talk will be held to mark the 90th anniversary of the demonstration.
Supported by Lowestoft Town Council, and the Jack Rose Old Lowestoft Society, a talk by Janis Culham Kirby and Andy Pearce will go through the events from yester-year and assess whether the town hall 'riot' 90 years ago was "really a riot"?
