A team of four intrepid members from a leisure centre will be embarking on a special challenge this weekend.
Georgia Thomson, Chloe Bagley, Rhys Ballard and Luka Oberstar - who all work at Waterlane Leisure Centre in Lowestoft - will take on a 70.3-mile triathlon for a worthy cause on Sunday.
They will be raising funds for Dementia UK, after organising their own triathlon as part of a personal fundraising challenge.
The team members are all employed by Everyone Active, the company which operates Waterlane Leisure Centre in partnership with East Suffolk Council.
With the company helping to raise awareness and funds nationwide for Dementia UK, the intrepid staff members will take on the demanding 70.3-mile triathlon in and around the Lowestoft leisure centre.
The team's triathlon is equivalent to the Half Iron Man distance as it consists of a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride and 13.1-mile run.
The swim, starting at 8am, will be held in the Waterlane pool, with the cycle and run on loops of the venue nearby.
Ms Thomson, a duty manager at Waterlane, said she and Chloe came up with the idea for the event after tackling a shorter Olympic distance last year.
She said: "We started planning and training for the event 25 weeks ago."
Over the past few months, the team have put in hours of training in preparation for the three disciplines.
"Chloe and I swim train with the Tri-masters session here at Waterlane," she added.
"The other swimmers have been very supportive and everyone in the gym knows what we're doing."
They have also held fundraisers - such as a cake bake and hamper giveaway - at the centre, and look set to hit their £1,000 target.
She added: "I think we all have pre-race nerves right now, but I’m confident everyone will have a great day and raise lots of money for charity."
