The owners of a cafe were left horrified after finding their cafe vandalised when they found CCTV images of the man stealing cash from a tip jar.

This is the second break-in Fiona Jones and her husband Mark have endured since opening Sizzler's Cafe in the Britten Centre in Lowestoft earlier this year.

The couple was visiting Jones' elderly mother in Bognor Regis when Mrs Jones received a notification from a security app suggesting someone was inside the cafe at 1am on Sunday.

The suspect disconnected outside cameras and smashed the front door to gain entry to the cafe.

He then left momentarily and returned to the scene of the crime, stealing a tip jar that was attached to the wall.

Mrs Jones said: "Even though he could see that the till was open and had no cash in, he still smashed up the front of our cafe, he just didn't care at all.

"It's difficult enough for new businesses without extra costs added on from an incident like this.

"We had to close the cafe for a day and lost multiple food bookings and the staff lost their hard-earned tips, it's just not fair."

Suffolk police have been contacted for comment.
