A path has been closed off to the public after being damaged as trees were uprooted during high winds.

The trees were blown over in Lowestoft last weekend when 55mph winds were recorded in the county due to Storms Elin and Fergus.

The trees fell along Monckton Avenue, ripping apart the footpath and verge.

Suffolk Highways have put up barriers and fencing to keep passers by safe.

The safety precautions will be in place until further notice.

The damage comes after the two storms caused chaos in the county with multiple trees being torn across roads and into powerlines. 

A Met Office Spokesman said the weather was due to a period of unsettled weather until the middle of December, this is supposed to settle in the coming days with more typical wintry conditions of cold and frost bedding in.
