A man has been arrested after another man suffered serious head injuries following an assault.
Police cordons are currently in place in Lowestoft High Street, near to the Carousel pub, after the incident, which took place at about 11.10pm on Tuesday (December 26).
A man in his 20s was seriously assaulted following an altercation.
The victim suffered serious head injuries and was taken to hospital, where he is described as being in a stable condition.
A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and is being questioned by officers.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault or who may have been driving in High Street at the time and has dash cam footage.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Suffolk police quoting reference CAD 251 of December 26.
