From an all-day music festival to an 80s themed carnival, here are five free events taking place across Suffolk this summer. 

1. Aldeburgh Carnival

Where: High Street, Aldeburgh, IP15 5AL

When: Monday, August 19

The 80s themed carnival procession will be travelling up the High Street to celebrate the event's 80th anniversary. 

Other events will be taking place across the weekend of August 17 and 18 but may have an entry free such as the waiters race and duck race.

2. First Light Festival

When: Saturday, June 22 to Sunday, June 23

The First Light Festival celebrates the summer solstice with free performances on the beach at dusk and dawn. 

When the dusk events finish on the Saturday night, ticketed events will be happening at venues in the town until the early hours of Sunday morning. 

3. Wheelie Fun Day

Where: Somersham Playing Field, Somersham, Ipswich, IP8 4FP

When: Saturday, July 6 

The fun day festival will showcase a range of vehicles from classic cars to modern wheels. 

There will also be fete games to play, live music all day and various stalls to check out.

4. Street Food Festival

Where: Sudbury Arts Centre, Market Hill, Sudbury, CO10 2EA

When: Sunday, August 25

The first street food festival will have stalls inside the arts centre and lining Market Hill. 

Some of the vendors already confirmed include The Raclette Truck, Tornado Oven and Black Wagon Bagels. 

5. Ipswich Music Day

Where: Christchurch Park, Bolton Lane, Ipswich, IP4 2BX

When: Sunday, July 7

The event is expanding outside of Christchurch Park this year with performances in Bethesda Church, Masonic Hall and St Margaret's Church. 

Music on offer will cover a wide range of genres including acoustic, folk, jazz, grunge, indie, reggae and rock.
