Records tumbled as 'cows' descended on a picturesque parkrun that has been named as one of the "most breathtaking" in the UK.
Hundreds of people flocked to Lowestoft to sample the delights of the most easterly parkrun.
Having been recently showcased in a BBC Countryfile feature of the 10 most beautiful countryside routes in the country, Parkrun Lowestoft was named alongside other scenic beauty spots such as Snowdonia National Park, the Lake District and the Cairngorms.
And there was another accolade for the weekly event as people from across the country - and abroad - hit Lowestoft on Saturday.
As Cowfest runs are only held once a year at venues covering the north, south, east and west, Parkrun Lowestoft had the distinction of hosting Cowfest East.
Held alongside three other locations across Great Britain at the weekend it meant the four cardinal compass points featured in special Cowfest events.
And at Parkrun Lowestoft there was a record turnout, and a course record - as almost 600 people crossed the finishing line.
Callum Hanlon was first, in achieving a course record of 15.26 minutes, with parkrun Lowestoft event director Rob Fawcett hailing an "absolutely amazing" event.
"We've had 591 people crossing the finish line - all ages all abilities, walkers, runners, joggers you name it, as we have had a phenomenal morning at Parkrun Lowestoft," he said.
Of these, a remarkable 165 were first timers, 43 recorded new personal best times as representatives of 85 clubs took part in the run.
To have the unique honour of being a parkrun 'cow' each member must have visited a minimum of 25 different locations in order to be in the group.
So on Saturday a congregation of these 'exclusive' parkrun tourists united in Lowestoft - and the three other locations - as part of their annual get together.
'Absolutely perfect'
Mr Fawcett said: "We were contacted to see if they could host Cowfest East at Lowestoft.
"Could we cope? Did we have enough volunteers and a wide promenade to accommodate the numbers - toilet facilities, coffee houses and car parks?
"Well we are set up for tourism at Parkrun Lowestoft, and it was absolutely perfect.
"The weather held as well, and it has been an absolute brilliant success, and the most important people here are the volunteers because no volunteers - no parkrun.
"We had 52 volunteers here which was awesome."
Runners from across the UK took part in Parkrun Lowestoft, alongside locals and entrants from Finland, Cyprus and two people from Australia.
"We are super proud to be asked to host the Cowfest East run, which has put Lowestoft on the map," Mr Fawcett added.
With the weekly parkrun in Lowestoft averaging over 400 participants, he added: "Where we are, we punch well above our weight with the visitors we get week in - week out.
"We are an award-winning group and were voted on BBC Countryfile in the top 10 events in the entire country for the most picturesque location."
