A Norfolk hospital's open day giving people exclusive access to the goings-on inside wards and departments has been postponed due to strikes.

James Paget University Hospital's open day, scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed so the hospital can prioritise patient care during the industrial action by junior doctors between June 27 and July 2.

"I am sorry we have to reschedule, and hope anyone that was planning on attending can join us at our future event."

This comes as after junior doctors offered the prime minister a “final chance” to avoid the fresh wave of strikes in their long-running dispute over pay.

The British Medical Association offered to call off strikes if they get a commitment “in writing to a detailed pathway that will restore our pay in the form of a comprehensive deal that will be implemented if you are able to form the next government”.

The James Paget will confirm a new date for an open-day event in due course.
