The Salty Crow in Lowestoft to reopen under new ownership

The Salty Crow opened its doors in London Street North in August 2022 and it became known for its bread, smoothies, milkshakes, ice creams and cakes.

After its founder sold up, it was taken on by married couple Lauren and Chris Taylor.

Mrs Taylor explained that although they could have completely changed the structure of the business, they decided to honour its history and continue offering plenty of plant-based dishes.

"The more me and Chris spoke about it, the more we grew fond of the name and history," she said.

"We also knew that we wouldn't be keeping it as a 100pc vegan café because we felt that could be risky.

"By adding some non-plant-based options such as sausage rolls and bacon rolls we are trying to open it up to everyone.

"We still want to incorporate the vegan element though, so we have some great vegan and gluten-free options on the menu."

They have also completed "minimal refurbishments" to create more space for seating so people can visit and "feel more welcomed inside".

Mrs Taylor has always lived in Lowestoft and has worked at the Carlton Marshes for the past two years while her husband Chris is a deputy manager and musician who tours East Anglia.

The pair said they were "very much looking forward to joining and being a part of the town centre community". 

They hope to reopen on September 2 but further details will be revealed soon.
