A long-established corner shop looks set for a new look after plans were given the go-ahead.
A bid to extend the floorspace and improve the frontage of a neighbourhood general store has been given the green light.
East Suffolk Council this week approved proposals for the Londis convenience store and Post Office on the Rock Estate at 96 to 100 Hall Road in Oulton Broad, Lowestoft.
The plans for the store - previously a Spar - were submitted to the council by agents Steve Robertson on behalf of the applicant Sajjan Patel, for Namshi Ltd, in July.
The scheme was permitted on Tuesday, September 10.
A delegated report from the council's case officer said: "The application proposes minor modifications to extend the floorspace and improve the frontage of a local neighbourhood general store, which are acceptable.
"The site comprises a long-established corner shop, located at the junction of Hall Road and Rock Road in Oulton Broad, serving the surrounding Rock Estate, developed in the 1970s.
"The proposal seeks to improve and enhance the front area of the site.
"The doorway would be enlarged, with new sliding doors.
"The general store and post office provides a vital community service to the local neighbourhood and is very well used."
With the proposals creating an additional 25sq metres of retail floorspace, and improved facilities, no objections were received and Oulton Broad Parish Council were supportive of the scheme.
