A historian has criticised Suffolk County Council's decision to close Lowestoft's archive facility.
Bob Collis, chairman of the Lowestoft and District Independent Archive (LADIA) group, said the site had "played an important role in documenting our unique history of the area since it opened in 1985".
He said its closure last month meant people in the area had to make a 90-mile round trip to The Hold in Ipswich to see original archive material.

He said: "The council has left Suffolk's two second biggest towns without an archives visitor centre.
"We anticipated this situation when we formed LADIA three years ago.
"It is up to the public to get behind our new enterprise and help us to fill in the gap left by this appalling lack of foresight from Suffolk County Council."
